Kjersti Kramm Engebrigtsen is currently active as a choreographer, teacher and special needs educator.

She made her debut as a dancer and choreographer with the Høvik Ballett Company in 1969 and she has created more than 20 dance works, which have been performed in theatres, concert halls, churches, museums and on television. She has been dancing in theatres, dance companies and very often participated as a dancer in her own works. A characteristic of Engebrigtsen's work is that she wants to tell a story and that her work is often created in closed collaboration with a composer. The choreographic language often has a taut form and the atmosphere that most typically characterises her work is lyrical.

In more recent works she has focused on the fragile body, the vulnerable human being. In 2004 she created the production Fragile where she introduced a blind dancer on stage, who danced along with sighted dancers.

Her latest work was "Breathing Space" – a dance installation, Oslo city centre, 13 performances in conjunction with Oslo International Dance Festival. September 2007.

Her teaching experience is broad and varied. In 1976 she started Danseloftet Studio which was the first dance studio to introduce alternative dance disciplines such as Tai Chi, Release techique etc.

She has been teaching children and teenagers, musicians, actors, physiotherapist, amateurs and professionals in modern dance disciplines and improvisation.
She is currently introducing dance to children in elementary schools.
Since 1987 she has taken a special interest in dance and body awareness for visually impaired. This work has led to the creation of FRAGILE, a project established at Bærum Kulturhus which has recently received a grant from the European Union. FRAGILE is aiming at involving visually impaired movers in professional dance productions in Estonia, Portugal and Norway from September 2011 until June 2013 She will be responsible for the Artistic Direction and will teach, give lectures and create a new dance work for April 2013.
